The carat is the unit of measurement for diamond weight. One carat (written “1.00 ct”) is equivalent to 0.20 grams. Assessed to the nearest hundredth, the carat determines the diamond’s price. The greater the caratage, the rarer and more valuable the diamond.
The fewer defects (or “inclusions”) a diamond has, the purer it is, and therefore rarer and more brilliant. Clarity is measured on a scale from Flawless to Included. At Gemmyo, you can choose from the three highest diamond qualities for diamonds over 0.3 ct.
In gemology, diamonds are classified according to a color scale ranging from D (colorless) to Z (yellow or brown), with pristine white being the most prized color. In order to offer you the purest stones, the Maison offers the highest level of excellence – D, G and H – for diamonds of 0.3 ct and above.
The cut of a diamond refers to the proportion of its facets. Their balance determines the stone’s refractive power. More than any other factor, this “cut grade” determines the stone’s brilliance.
